Newton NC: The Green Room Theatre Playwriting Contest

The Green Room Community Theatre announced the return of the Theatre Works New Playwrights Festival, a playwriting contest open to 3rd – 12th graders. The plays will be judged in three categories: 3rd-6th grade, 7th-9th grade and 10th-12th grade.

All plays submitted in the 3rd-6th grade category have a 10-15 minute time limit, while submissions in the other two categories have a 30-45 minute limit.

Submissions can be mailed to New Playwrights Festival, The Green Room Community Theatre, PO Box 1317, Newton, NC 28658-1317, or e-mailed to greenroom@the-green-room.org.

All entries must be received no later than March 23, 2012. There will be one winner per category. Each winner will have their play produced by The Green Room Community Theatre in a set of one-act plays to be presented May 24, 25 and 26, 2012. The winner of each category will also receive a $100 cash prize.
