On Saturday, September 22, 2012, the Hickory Parks and Recreation Department will host, the First Bark Bash at Stanford Park. The event will be in conjunction with National Day of Play.
The Bark Bash will begin at 10:00 a.m. and end at 1:00 p.m. The event will benefit the Humane Society of Catawba County. Hot dog plates will be available and will include a hot dog, chips and a Coke. All donations will go directly to the Humane Society of Catawba County. Donations of pet food and supplies will also be collected during the event. This will be a day of family and four-legged fun for all in attendance.
The day will include various contests: Owner and Pet look-a-like, Biggest and Smallest, Most Talented and Best Dressed. Registration for these contests will begin at 9:00 a.m. under the picnic shelter located at Stanford Park. Contests will begin at 10:30 a.m. Pets can enjoy Yappy Hour from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. This will include pet friendly mock tails for their enjoyment.
Between 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., enjoy various activities for families and four-legged friends alike: face painting, Hickory Police Department canine presentation, corn hole and ladder golf, and water and agility activities.
During the event, participants are asked to please adhere to all Bark Bash rules. Dogs must be on a leash at all times. All dogs must be up to date on vaccinations; verification will be required. Any aggressive dogs and their owners will be asked to leave. Pet owners must be responsible and clean up after their pets.
