The Hickory YMCA has their annual Summer Camp scheduled for June through August 2016.
They are offering Open House opportunities to visit their facilities and ask questions on the following dates:
- April 15th
- May 14th
- June 4th
YMCA Summer Camp is recommended for ages 3 to 18, with appropriate age-range activities. (3-5 years), (5-12 years), and (12-18 year olds).
Squirt Camp is designed for 3-5 year olds who are already potty trained. They will enjoy a day of fun with water and land-based activities that will help them build character, learn to share and develop teamwork skills. All campers will receive a weekly swim lesson from a trained instructor. There will be crafts, story time and lots of games! This is a Monday-Friday half day camp from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm.
Traditional Camp (5-12 year olds) offers weekly themes with daily adventures, field games, swimming, arts and crafts, nature walks, character development, summer reading program, plus so much more.
There will also be Specialty camps available; Tennis Camp and Baseball Camp
Tennis Camp: June 20th – 24th, July 18th-22nd, and August 8th-12th.
Baseball Camp: will be available June 27 – July 1st.
For the more mature campers, there is the LIT Camp (campers entering grades 7-10) that will be supervised by trained YMCA staff who will provide a safe and exhilarating atmosphere to build self-esteem and prepare teens for future leadership responsibilities. Youth in Leaders in Training camp make lifelong friends while having fun learning how to be a leader. Each week is jam-packed with activities that stimulates the senses while taking teens out of their comfort zone, traveling to local attractions, completing service projects at the YMCA and in the community, and participating in team building activities and various trainings.
