ALFA’s seventh annual Hike for Hope 5K is less than a month away!
The April 9 event beginning in Union Square in downtown Hickory will include dance demos by HG Fitness and Rhythmic Essence, music, kids activities, give aways from merchants, and includes the 1 Mile Walk, the 5K Run and the now infamous High Heel Dash.
A total of 15 Catawba Valley area corporate sponsors have joined ALFA to ensure this annual event is successful. Registration has been made easier for 2016 by simply going to www.ALFAHikeForHope.org. The $25 entry includes T-shirt and sway bag, full of items from downtown merchants and other local sponsors.
Racing Toes will provide disposable numbered bibs and time the 5K run. The Hike for Hope 1 Mile Walk is a non-timed event.
5K Packer Pickup (Runners only) will be Friday, April 8 from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. at Fleet Feet Sports Hickory, in the Belle Hollow Shopping Center, or, April 9 from 7:30 until 9 a.m. at the event on Union Square. All participants MUST be registered and have received their race number by 9 a.m. to participate. Race begins promptly at 9:30 a.m.
At approximately 11 a.m., the 5K Run, awards will be presented for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd overall male and female winners, and 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place awards for each age group. There will also be awards for the Largest Team and the Most Creative Team.
This highly successful event helps ALFA’s visible in and around downtown Hickory, with all funds going directly into services for ALFA in Alexander, Alleghany, Ashe, Burke, Caldwell, Catawba, Lincoln, Watauga and Wilkes counties, that includes free case management, HIV testing, and education.
